Polling for two postponed constituencies of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly, LA-27 and LA-28, will be held on Tuesday, with authorities completing preparations and putting in place stringent security arrangements.

Election officials said polling staff and election material would be dispatched to the polling stations on Monday evening to ensure voting begins on schedule.

The elections in the two constituencies were postponed during the second phase of elections after polling staff and election material could not reach 57 polling stations on time due to bad weather.

In LA-27, a total of 26 candidates are in the race, including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Noreen Arif, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Sardar Javed Ayub, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) candidate Sardar Tabarak Ali.

Meanwhile, LA-28 is witnessing a contest among 24 candidates, including PPP’s Syed Bazil Ali Naqvi and PML-N’s Chaudhry Shehzad.

Authorities said comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful and orderly polling in both constituencies.
