A man identified as Zubair Baloch, the brother of Lyari gang figure Uzair Baloch, was critically injured after unidentified assailants opened fire on him in Karachi’s Chakiwara area on Thursday, police said.

The shooting occurred at Al Faiz Bus Terminal in Chakiwara No 2, where Zubair Baloch was present when the attackers opened fire.

Police said he sustained three bullet wounds and was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment. His condition was reported to be serious.

According to initial information, Zubair Baloch was released from prison about six months ago and had since been managing the family’s transport business.

The bus terminal where the shooting took place is named after Uzair Baloch’s father.

Police said the motive behind the attack was not immediately known. Investigators collected forensic evidence from the scene and launched a search for the attackers.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
