DHA Energy Supply Company becomes Pakistan's first firm to secure solar and power distribution licences
1 min readThe National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has granted electricity distribution and supply licences to DHA Energy Supply Company (DESCO), making it the first company in Pakistan to hold both licences.
The licence handover ceremony was held at Nepra headquarters in Islamabad, where Nepra member Maqsood Anwar presented the licences to the management of DHA Energy Supply Company.
According to a DESCO statement, the company has received licences to distribute and supply electricity in DHA City Karachi, marking a significant milestone in the development of the large-scale housing project.
DESCO said DHA City began the licensing process in 2017, adding that the approvals were made possible through close cooperation between DHA City Karachi and Nepra.
DHA City Karachi spans more than 22,000 acres, with development work progressing rapidly across 12,000 acres in DHA City South.
The company also said development work has commenced on the first phase of DHA Indus Hills.
It added that the feasibility study for a grid station is nearly complete, with construction expected to begin in early 2027.
DESCO further said it has signed a power acquisition agreement with Lucky Cement to support electricity supply for the project.
