Ten electric buses gifted by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) arrived in Muzaffarabad on Saturday, fulfilling a key election promise made by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

The convoy of modern buses, which departed from Islamabad a day earlier, received a warm welcome from PML-N leaders, workers and local residents upon entering Muzaffarabad.

The buses carry images of Maryam Nawaz along with banners reading “A gift for Azad Kashmir”.

Nawaz and Maryam had announced the gift during the party’s first election rally in Muzaffarabad, promising to provide 10 electric buses for the region if elected.

The delivery comes just days after the announcement, with the party saying the commitment had been fulfilled within 72 hours.

The buses are part of a broader package of development initiatives unveiled by Nawaz during the launch of the PML-N’s campaign for the upcoming AJK elections.

Addressing a public gathering on July 21, Nawaz pledged major infrastructure projects, including extending the motorway from Mansehra to Muzaffarabad and onward to Mirpur, increasing AJK’s development budget tenfold and deploying 15 mobile hospitals to improve healthcare services in remote areas.

The AJK elections, originally scheduled for July 27, will now be held in three phases, beginning on July 27 and concluding on August 10.
