Nine-year-old student Naima allegedly took her own life on Friday over issues related to pocket money and reprimands from her parents, according to investigative sources.

Police sources said the girl used to demand additional pocket money and was sensitive to minor issues.

They added that Naima had a sensitive nature and would take even a slight scolding from her parents to heart.

Officials said all aspects of the incident in Lahore’s Achhra area were being reviewed, with further investigations underway.

Police said facts were being established based on available evidence and statements from family members.
