Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the farewell and official funeral ceremonies of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying the gesture reflected the longstanding solidarity between the two neighbouring nations.

In a post on X, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Shehbaz Sharif and the accompanying high-level Pakistani delegation for participating in the ceremonies and conveying condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.

“I extend my appreciation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for attending the farewell and official funeral ceremony of the martyred Supreme Leader,” the Iranian president wrote.

Pezeshkian said Iran would “never forget this solidarity and support,” adding that the peoples of Iran and Pakistan had always stood together in times of both joy and sorrow.

He said the enduring relationship between the two countries was rooted in mutual solidarity and brotherhood.
