At least seven tourists were killed after a boat carrying members of a single family capsized at Saifullah Lake in the Kalam area of Swat district, police said on Wednesday.

According to Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Omar Khan, eight members of the same family were aboard the boat when it overturned at the popular tourist destination.

The bodies of seven victims were recovered from the Mahodand area, while one person remains missing.

Rescue teams, police personnel and local volunteers are continuing a search operation to locate the missing individual.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims or the circumstances that led to the boat capsizing. An investigation into the incident is expected.

The latest tragedy comes as tourist destinations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue to receive large numbers of visitors during the monsoon season, prompting authorities to urge tourists to exercise caution around rivers, lakes and other water bodies.
