Heavy police deployment after firing reported near Karachi's Mosamiat Chowrangi
1 min readHeavy police contingents were deployed to University Road near Mosamiat Chowrangi on Saturday after reports of firing in the area sparked panic among residents.
According to initial reports, intense gunfire was heard near Mosamiat Chowrangi, causing fear and uncertainty among people in the vicinity. Some residents also claimed they heard what sounded like an explosion.
Police, however, said no evidence of a blast had been found so far.
According to reports, police have cordoned off the general area and launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Authorities have yet to confirm the circumstances surrounding the reported firing, while further details are awaited.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of reports of an explosion and alleged firing and sought a detailed report on the incident, according to his spokesperson.
The chief minister contacted the Sindh inspector general of police and the Karachi additional inspector general, directing them to ensure that police immediately reached the scene and took all necessary measures to ascertain the nature of the incident.
Police urged the public to avoid speculation until the investigation establishes the facts.
