The 9th of Muharram-ul-Haram is being observed across the country on Thursday with religious devotion to commemorate the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala.

Majalis and mourning processions are being held in major cities and towns, with mourners participating in religious gatherings and processions to pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala.

In the federal capital, the main 9th Muharram procession will be taken out from Imambargah G-6/2 in the afternoon and will pass through its designated route under strict security arrangements.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Police and Islamabad Traffic Police have put in place comprehensive security and traffic management plans to ensure the peaceful conduct of the procession.

Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said more than 1,000 personnel from the district police and traffic police had been deployed to provide security and maintain smooth traffic flow along the procession route.

Chief Traffic Police Officer Kainat Azhar Khan visited the entire route on Thursday and issued instructions to officers on duty regarding traffic management and security measures.

A central control room has also been established at Safe City headquarters to monitor the procession and coordinate security operations in real time.
