French woman rescued from alleged domestic abuse in Khyber
1 min readA French woman who was the victim of alleged domestic violence in Khyber’s Bara tehsil has been rescued along with her four children, officials said on Monday.
According to Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed, French national Salwa Yasmin was recovered during a raid conducted on June 18 following a tip-off.
He said she was reportedly being subjected to abuse inside a house in the area.
The CCPO said the woman had married a Pakistani national and had been residing in Bara since 2014.
The woman told authorities she had been mistreated by her husband and was not allowed to leave the house.
Police said the French woman and her four children have been moved to the women police station in Peshawar. She has expressed a desire to return to France.
Officials added that further investigations and legal proceedings are underway.
The Foreign Office has been contacted and a letter sent to the French embassy through diplomatic channels.
A case has also been registered against the woman’s husband, police said.
