2 min readDeputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will travel to Cairo on Sunday, June 21, to attend the fourth meeting of the R-4 group of countries, the Foreign Office (FO) said on Friday.
Dar will participate in the ministerial meeting at the invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Abdelatty.
The forum brings together the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye to discuss key regional and international developments.
According to the FO, the ministers will exchange views on issues related to peace, security and stability, while reviewing ways to strengthen cooperation among the four countries in areas of shared interest.
The meeting builds on previous R-4 consultations aimed at enhancing coordination on regional challenges and promoting collective efforts for peace and prosperity.
During his visit, Dar is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Dr Abdelatty and call on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The discussions are expected to focus on expanding Pakistan-Egypt cooperation across multiple sectors and exchanging views on regional and global developments of mutual concern.
The FO said Pakistan attaches significant importance to its relations with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing the R-4 framework as a reflection of the participating countries’ commitment to consultation, cooperation and coordinated action on regional issues.
The Cairo meeting comes three months after Dar hosted the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Egypt in Islamabad for a quadrilateral meeting focused on the Middle East situation and broader regional challenges.
