Saudi Arabia’s Future Investment Initiative Institute has appointed Princess Dr Maha bint Mishari bin Abdulaziz as its new chief executive officer, succeeding founding CEO Richard Attias, Saudi Gazette reported on Wednesday.

Attias, who established the institute, will continue as chairman of the Executive Committee.

Princess Dr Maha brings experience across healthcare, higher education, research and international engagement.

Most recently, she served as Vice President of External Relations and Advancement at Alfaisal University in Riyadh, where she strengthened the university’s global partnerships.

She has also represented Saudi Arabia at major international forums, including the G20 and the fourth Eurasian Women’s Forum.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan, chairman of the FII Institute Board of Trustees and governor of the Public Investment Fund, said her “leadership, vision and international perspective” would strengthen the institute’s position as a global platform for investment, ideas and solutions.

Princess Dr Maha said it was a privilege to join the institute at a significant moment in its development.

“The Institute has become a globally recognised platform for dialogue, innovation and investment,” she said.

“I look forward to working with the Board of Trustees, the Executive Committee, our partners and our talented team to further advance our mission and create meaningful impact for future generations.”

She will deliver the opening remarks on the second day of the FII PRIORITY Europe Summit in Rome on June 19.

The FII Institute was established in 2019 with the Public Investment Fund as its founding partner, growing out of the annual Future Investment Initiative conference first held in Riyadh in 2017. In addition to its flagship Riyadh summit, which draws global investors and business leaders, the institute organises economic gatherings worldwide to attract foreign investment. Its Miami event in March was attended by US President Donald Trump.
