Pakistani security forces killed 27 militants in intelligence-based operations in the Miran Shah area of North Waziristan over the past 72 hours, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces targeted multiple militant hideouts in the area during ongoing operations. The military said 27 militants belonging to “Fitna al-Khawarij” were killed following intense exchanges of fire.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the slain militants, the statement said.

The ISPR said those killed were involved in terrorist activities and target killings of civilians. It added that the militants included individuals involved in the killing of Malik Saifullah Dawar in Miran Shah.

The military said the operation avenged Dawar’s killing and brought those responsible to justice.
