Aishwarya Rai Bachchan returns to Cannes in blue couture
2 min readBollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan made her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2026 on Friday, ending speculation over whether she would attend this year’s event.
The 52-year-old, representing L’Oreal, arrived on the red carpet in the final phase of the festival, drawing attention with a custom couture gown designed by Amit Aggarwal.
Her outfit, titled “Luminara,” was presented as a sculptural creation inspired by the idea of light in motion.
The design focused on light as energy and movement, built through structured craftsmanship and detailed construction.
The gown featured the designer’s “Crystal Vein” embroidery technique, developed over more than 1,500 hours of handwork.
Thousands of crystalline elements were placed across the garment in a lattice-like structure intended to create a flowing, illuminated effect across the body.
According to a statement, the design was made to interact with movement and lighting, with reflective elements shifting visually as the wearer moved.
The outfit also included wing-like structures at the shoulders and was rendered in an abyss-blue tone, intended to evoke cosmic depth and the movement of light through space.
Aggarwal said the collaboration with stylist Mohit Rai and Aishwarya aimed to create a look that functioned as an “energy field” rather than a conventional garment, highlighting themes of strength, transformation and presence.
Aishwarya posed for photographers on the French Riviera during her appearance, with fans now awaiting her look for the festival’s closing ceremony.
