Punjab imposes Section 144 around airbases and airports
1 min readAs part of measures to maintain security around air bases and airports across the province, the Punjab government on Thursday imposed Section 144 to restrict public activities.
According to a Home Department notification, a 13-kilometre perimeter around sensitive aviation installations has been designated as a restricted zone to ensure the safety of flight operations and guard against potential threats.
The notification stated that Section 144 will remain in effect for 30 days and applies to all airbases and commercial airports throughout Punjab.
Activities such as pigeon flying, use of laser lights, and throwing of waste have been completely prohibited within the restricted zone.
The Home Department said these steps are essential to ensure flight safety, warning that such activities can pose serious risks to aircraft safety.
The notification said that birds are often drawn to these sites in search of food, which can create dangerous conditions for planes and passengers.
Authorities have been instructed to maintain cleanliness around airports and air bases.
