India’s former intelligence chief has openly admitted that New Delhi’s long-running campaign to isolate Pakistan internationally has failed, and that India may now face that fate itself.

A.S. Dulat, former director of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), made the remarks in a recent interview, saying India had deployed every tool at its disposal — lobbying, proxies, and counter-terrorism narratives — without result.

“It is India’s misconception that Pakistan would disintegrate,” Dulat said, adding that Pakistan would never break apart.

He said India had also failed to turn the international community against Pakistan on the terrorism issue. By contrast, he said Pakistan’s role as a diplomatic mediator had strengthened its global standing.

Dulat singled out Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, noting that Pakistan’s army chief was drawing growing international attention, including from Washington. He cited US President Donald Trump’s reported description of Munir as his “favourite field marshal.”

Talking about the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Dulat said the situation remained volatile beneath the surface. He described an “invisible” undercurrent of unrest, uncertainty, and public grievance continuing to simmer among residents.
