Panda Bond signals boost for Pakistan-China economic partnership
1 min readPakistan’s inaugural Panda Bond issuance marks a significant milestone in the country’s financial landscape and strengthens economic cooperation with China, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said.
Speaking to China Global Television Network (CGTN) after the official Panda Bond Issuance Ceremony in Beijing, the finance minister described the successful issuance as a reflection of growing confidence from Chinese institutions and global investors in Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability, ongoing reforms, and economic direction.
Aurangzeb highlighted that the Panda Bond is not only a pivotal step in Pakistan’s financing strategy but also supports the internationalisation of the Chinese Renminbi (RMB).
He noted that nearly 25% of bilateral trade between Pakistan and China is already conducted in RMB, underscoring the deepening financial integration and expanding economic partnership between the two nations.
“The strategic priorities of Pakistan and China remain closely aligned in advancing connectivity, trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth,” the minister added.
