At least 10 people were killed and five others seriously injured after a high-speed trailer collided with a passenger vehicle near Dhadar Landhi, close to Dalbandin, officials and local sources said on Friday.

The accident occurred on the RCD Highway N-40 when a trailer travelling from Quetta to Taftan reportedly ran over a Toyota Fielder car coming from the opposite direction.

According to sources, 15 people were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The collision was so severe that the car was destroyed, killing 10 passengers on the spot and leaving five others critically injured.

Rescue officials and residents faced major difficulties while attempting to retrieve victims trapped inside the wreckage due to the intensity of the impact.

The bodies and injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dalbandin, where emergency measures were imposed to handle the situation.

Police said the trailer driver had been arrested and an investigation into the incident was underway.
