Militant attack on Bannu police post foiled, several attackers killed
1 min readSecurity forces foiled a militant attack on a police checkpost in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Wednesday.
Several attackers were killed in the swift response by security forces, police said.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu Yasir Afridi, heavily armed militants launched a late-night attack on the Mazanga police post.
Officers deployed at the facility responded immediately with intense fire, successfully repelling the assault.
Police said multiple attackers were killed on the spot, while five others were wounded.
The body of one militant was recovered from the scene, but the remaining dead and injured were taken away by their accomplices.
During the exchange of fire, a police officer, identified as Fareedullah, sustained minor injuries and was provided medical treatment.
Afridi said that the attackers used heavy weapons, but the police force demonstrated bravery and brought the situation under control.
The sources said that blood traces were found at various places and authorities have cordoned off the area to collect evidence and arrest the fleeing attackers.
