Road to Lake Saif-ul-Malook cleared after months-long closure
1 min readAuthorities have launched restoration work on the road leading to Lake Saif-ul-Malook to ensure tourist access to the scenic destination after a five-month closure due to harsh winter conditions.
The road had remained blocked following heavy snowfall, landslides, and avalanches at multiple points, cutting off access to one of Pakistan’s most popular tourist attractions.
Officials from the Kaghan Development Authority said restoration work is underway on the directives of the authority’s director general, with heavy machinery deployed to clear the road.
So far, six kilometres of the route have been restored, while work on the remaining seven kilometres is expected to be completed within five days, according to officials.
The initiative aims to facilitate tourists from across the country, enabling them to visit the snow-covered lake — often associated with folklore and described as a “fairy tale” destination — and enjoy its natural beauty.
Authorities said ensuring safe and timely access will allow visitors to experience the frozen lake’s view and make the journey a memorable one.
