At least eight militants were killed in a successful operation by security forces in North Waziristan, officials said on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the operation was conducted near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border following credible information about the presence of militants belonging to the India-backed Fitna Al Khwarij group.

The forces responded swiftly, eliminating eight Indian sponsored militants during the targeted operation.

The ISPR said that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the site.

Security forces are continuing search and sanitisation operations in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.

The ISPR said that the engagement once again substantiates Pakistan’s repeated stance regarding the abject failure of the Afghan Taliban regime to ensure effective border management on their side of the border.

The Afghan Taliban Regime must fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by Khwarij and the involvement of its citizens in terrorism inside Pakistan, it stated.

The ISPR said that the counter-terrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision by security forces and law enforcement agencies will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.
