WWE legend John Cena has announced his return to the company as the host of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, according to the Gulf News.

The 17-time world champion and actor shared the news on his official X account, saying, “Since retirement, my ‘road’ has looked a little different… but now I can officially say I’m headed to WrestleMania!!!! See you in Las Vegas!”

WWE confirmed Cena’s return in a statement, describing him as “stepping back onto the Grandest Stage of Them All” for the upcoming event.

Cena retired from in-ring competition last December after losing to Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event, making this his first return since retirement.

Over his career, Cena has headlined WrestleMania multiple times, facing some of professional wrestling’s biggest names, including Big Show, Triple H, Batista, Shawn Michaels, The Miz, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Notably, he captured his first WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 20 in 2004 against Big Show.

Cena’s final active year included high-profile matches against rivals such as CM Punk, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, and Dominik Mysterio.

During that year, he won his record-breaking 17th world title at WrestleMania 41 against Cody Rhodes and completed WWE’s Grand Slam by defeating Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship in November, securing all major championships in his career since 2002.

WrestleMania 42, set for April 18-19 in Las Vegas, will feature CM Punk defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes facing 14-time world champion Randy Orton in a high-profile match.
