Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Sunday resumed its direct flight operations to London after a gap of six years.

The PIA flight is scheduled to land at Heathrow Airport after an approximately eight-hour journey.

The resumption of flights was formally inaugurated by Defence Secretary Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Ali and British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott.

Under the new schedule, PIA will operate four direct weekly flights to London — three from Islamabad and one from Lahore.

Speaking at the occasion, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott welcomed the restoration of PIA’s London flights, terming it a positive development.

Defence Secretary Muhammad Ali also expressed satisfaction, saying it was encouraging to see the restoration of this important air link.

He added that Pakistan and the United Kingdom share strong trade relations.
