The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be held exclusively inside mosques, instead of the traditional outdoor gatherings, in light of regional security concerns.

The UAE’s General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE) stated that Eid prayers across the country will be conducted solely within mosques. This decision aims to ensure the safety and security of worshippers, it added.

According to Emirati authorities, the decision was made to maintain public safety and security, as this year, Eid prayers will be restricted to designated mosques rather than being held in open fields as in previous years.

Authorities have appealed to citizens to adhere to designated prayer times and arrive at mosques on time to ensure that arrangements are properly managed.

Astronomical experts in the UAE have predicted that Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on Friday, March 20, 2026.

However, the final confirmation will be made after the sighting of the moon.
