1 min readSenior Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nehal Hashmi was sworn in as the 32nd Governor of Sindh at a ceremony held at the Governor House Karachi.
The oath was administered by Zafar Ahmed Rajput, Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court, in the presence of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, members of the provincial cabinet, senior officials and other dignitaries.
Following the ceremony, the chief minister met the newly appointed governor and congratulated him on assuming the constitutional office.
Syed Owais Qadir Shah, Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, also extended his best wishes, expressing hope that Hashmi would fulfil his constitutional responsibilities effectively.
After taking oath, the new governor visited the Mazar-e-Quaid to pay homage to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Hashmi said his vision was to see prosperity across the province “from Karachi to Ubaro.”
Responding to questions about reported reservations from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan, he said political differences could be resolved through dialogue.
“They are our Pakistani brothers. We resolved matters before, and we will do so again,” he said.
Meanwhile, sources said that more than half a dozen advisers appointed by former Sindh governor Kamran Tessori had also been removed from their positions. Officials noted that under the law, the governor does not have the authority to appoint advisers.
