ICC announces prize money distribution for T20 world cup 2026
1 min readThe International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the prize money distribution for teams participating in the T20 World Cup 2026, with India receiving the largest share as champions and other teams paid according to their performance.
Reports indicate that a total of approximately $11.25 million was distributed among the 20 participating teams.
India, which defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final to claim a record third T20 World Cup title, received $2,639,423, while runner-up New Zealand earned $1,422,692.
Teams reaching the semi-finals were also rewarded, with South Africa receiving $1,005,577 and England $974,423.
Other notable payouts included West Indies at $538,269 and Pakistan at $522,692. Zimbabwe earned $491,538 and Sri Lanka $475,962.
Teams finishing lower in the tournament received smaller amounts: USA, Australia, and Afghanistan each earned $309,808, Scotland $278,654, and Ireland $271,731.
Italy, participating for the first time, won its opening match against Nepal and earned $256,154, which was the same amount awarded to Netherlands, UAE, and Nepal.
Canada, Namibia, and Oman received $225,000 each as base payments.
The ICC noted that in addition to the base prize money, teams also received match-winning bonuses and payments based on progression through different stages of the tournament.
