Iran threatens to target US, Israeli economic interests in region
1 min readIran has announced an expansion of its targets, warning that US and Israeli investments, economic interests and strategic sites in the region could be attacked, including economic centres and banks.
According to Iranian media, the warning was issued as a response to an attack that allegedly targeted a bank in Iran.
Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam Al Anbiya Joint Command, said the US and the Zionist government had targeted a bank after failing to achieve their objectives.
He said the move had forced Iran to consider targeting economic centres and banks linked to the United States and Israel in the region.
He added that Washington and Tel Aviv should now expect a strong retaliatory response from Iran.
Iranian authorities have also warned people in the region to stay at least one kilometre away from banks to avoid potential harm in case of possible strikes.
Earlier, Iranian officials had repeatedly stated that Iran would respond to attacks against it by targeting military bases in the region from where the United States and Israel allegedly launched operations against Iran.
