Iran-US war disrupts global aviation, thousands of flights cancelled
1 min readThe sudden war between Iran and the United States has severely impacted the global aviation industry, with more than 24,000 flights cancelled worldwide in the past six days, according to aviation sources.
Officials said the cancellations, involving hundreds of airlines including carriers operating in Pakistan, have affected millions of passengers.
The disruption has also resulted in billions of rupees in losses for the aviation sector due to reduced landing, take-off and related charges.
At Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, 144 flights were cancelled on Friday.
However, airport sources said four flights departed for Saudi Arabia during the day.
Aviation sources also reported a noticeable decline in the number of Umrah pilgrims amid the ongoing conflict.
Authorities said aviation operations are being closely monitored as the situation continues to evolve.
