India post 253 against England in T20 World Cup semi-final

India set a daunting 254-run target for England in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after posting 253 for 7 in their 20 overs.

The high-scoring contest is being played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where England captain Harry Brook won the toss and opted to field first.

India’s innings was anchored by Sanju Samson, who produced a blistering 89-run knock after being dropped early on 15. His aggressive innings laid the foundation for one of India’s highest totals in the tournament.

Among the other contributors, Shivam Dube scored 43, while Ishan Kishan added 39. Captain Suryakumar Yadav made 11, Hardik Pandya chipped in with 27, and Tilak Varma contributed 21 runs.

For England, Will Jacks and Adil Rashid picked up two wickets each.

The winner of the match will advance to the final to face New Zealand, which secured its place after defeating South Africa in the first semi-final.

The T20 World Cup 2026 final is scheduled to be played on Sunday in Ahmedabad.

India entered the semi-final after losing only one match in the tournament, against South Africa, while England improved steadily after a challenging start and sealed their semi-final spot by defeating New Zealand and Pakistan in the Super Eight stage.

Interestingly, this marks the third consecutive T20 World Cup semi-final clash between India and England.

England won the encounter in 2022, while India prevailed in the 2024 edition.
