The live transmission of Geo News was briefly disrupted on Sunday night after hackers took control of the channel’s broadcast feed and displayed a subversive message on screen.

In an official statement, the channel’s management confirmed that its transmission had been compromised, resulting in the airing of an inappropriate message.

According to the statement, repeated attempts had been made over the past 24 hours to hack the channel’s broadcast system operating through the PAKSAT communication satellite.

The management said the network had also been facing intermittent transmission disruptions before the incident.

“Geo News’ screen was hacked to display an inappropriate message,” the statement said, stressing that the breach was external and unrelated to the channel’s internal operations.

The broadcaster urged relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the cyberattack, investigate the breach and bring those responsible to justice.
