Pakistan PM chairs security meeting after reports of Iran Supreme Leader’s Death, Postpones Russia Visit

An important meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is underway at the Prime Minister’s House, with the military leadership also in attendance.

According to sources, the meeting is reviewing the overall security situation in the region, including developments related to Afghanistan and Iran.

Consultations are also being held on foreign policy and national security matters, and various options and strategies are under consideration.

Sources said that in view of the current regional situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has postponed his scheduled two-day official visit to Russia.

He was due to depart for Moscow on March 2, but the visit has been deferred due to security concerns, and Russian authorities have been informed.

Iranian media have reported the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, and the Iranian government has announced 40 days of mourning.
