PHF forms key committees as national team management steps down
1 min readIn a major step to strengthen hockey’s organisational structure, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has announced the formation of two key committees, separating administrative and sporting affairs.
Ad-hoc president Mohyuddin Wani said Governance Management and Professional Development Committees would be constituted within two days to align the national sport with modern requirements.
The Governance Management Committee will oversee PHF’s administrative matters, including human resources, finance, resource mobilisation, communication and coordination.
It will also liaise with schools and colleges to promote the sport.
The Professional Development Committee will comprise former Olympians, sports coaches, trainers and sports medicine experts to focus on technical and performance-related aspects.
Team management decline to continue their roles
Meanwhile, the national hockey team management declined to continue in their roles after meeting the PHF’s acting president.
The delegation included head coach Tahir Zaman, manager M. Usman and Zeeshan Ashraf.
The management had been offered oversight of the training camp but opted not to proceed. As a result, the national team will compete in the upcoming World Cup qualifying round under a new management setup.
Pakistan is scheduled to depart for Egypt on February 24 to participate in the qualifying event, which will be held from March 1 to 8.
