At least two people, including a child, were killed and 17 others injured in a bomb blast near the Miryan police station in Bannu, police said on Monday.

According top police, the explosive device was planted on a motorcycle that was parked near the police station.

A heavy police contingent reached the scene after the explosion and shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Police have launched an investigation, cordoned off the blast site and tightened security arrangements.

Officials said the nature and motive of the attack will be determined after completing the ongoing investigations.
