Salman Agha confident ahead of high-stakes India T20 clash
2 min readPakistan captain Salman Ali Agha said on Saturday that the Green Shirts are fully prepared to face arch-rival India in tomorrow’s high-stakes T20 clash in Colombo.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo ahead of the clash, he said while the team cannot control the weather in the upcoming match, they have prepared strategies in case overs are reduced due to rain.
Salman described the Pakistan-India encounter as a “high-level contest” and confirmed that the team is fully prepared.
He added that the playing XI will be decided based on pitch and weather conditions, which are crucial in Colombo.
Highlighting the role of spinners, he said the team combination will be arranged accordingly.
Salman emphasised the importance of sportsmanship, stating that both teams should present a positive approach on the field.
“What strategy India adopts is up to them; Pakistan will ensure its preparation is complete,” he added.
The captain underlined that past results carry little weight, noting that “every new match is a fresh start.”
On the possibility of rain, he said no one has control over the weather, but the team has plans in place if overs are reduced.
He confirmed that the team is well-acquainted with the conditions and has gathered good knowledge of the pitch.
Regarding Babar Azam, Salman expressed confidence that the star batter will play a key role for Pakistan.
On media reports surrounding Usman Tariq, he stated that while various stories are circulating, the team remains focused solely on the game, calling Tariq “Pakistan’s trump card.”
Salman clarified that the team is not paying attention to the Indian media claims and is fully focused on the upcoming match.
Responding to a question, he wished Abhishek Sharma a speedy recovery, expressing hope that the player will be available, as Pakistan wants to compete against the best.
