Italy delivered a stunning performance on Thursday by defeating Nepal by 10 wickets in their Group C match at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, marking their first victory in the tournament.

Nepal, put into bat by Italy after losing the toss, struggled to set a competitive total. The team was dismissed for just 123 runs in 19 overs at the Wankhede Stadium.

Rohit Paudel with 23 runs and Aarif Sheikh with 27 runs offered brief resistance before a disciplined Italian bowling effort kept the scoreboard in check.

Crishan Kalugamage took 3 wickets, and Ben Manenti took 2 wickets while Jaspreet Singh, JJ smuts and Ali Hassan took one wicket each.

Chasing a target of 124 runs, Italy’s openers Justin Mosca with 60 runs and Anthony Mosca with 62 runs put on an unbreakable stand against Nepal’s bowlers, securing a win by 10 wickets and 44 balls to spare.

Nepal, whose hopes of advancing from a tough Group C were already under pressure following a narrow defeat to England earlier in the tournament, will need to recover quickly to seek its first point.
