Sinners,” “Zootopia 2” and “KPop demon hunters” dominate Lumiere awards

“Sinners,” “Zootopia 2” and “KPop Demon Hunters” were among the big winners at the 16th annual Lumiere Awards, which recognize creative and technical excellence in film and television.

The Advanced Imaging Society presented the awards to artists, engineers and innovators pushing the boundaries of storytelling and cinematic technology.

Jim Chabin, AIS president, said, “These Lumiere winners produced their brilliant stories by pushing the boundaries of what’s possible creatively and technically.”

“Sinners” won best live-action feature film, with producer Sev Ohanian and the sound team accepting awards for their work.

Voters praised the film as “brilliant and meaningful” and “perfectly executed.”

“Zootopia 2” took home best animated feature, recognised for its stunning visuals and technical integration, with director Byron Howard accepting the award.

“KPop Demon Hunters” won two awards for best original song and best musical scene for “Golden.”

Other winners included “The King of Colour” for best documentary, “Wicked: For Good” for best motion picture – musical, and “Avatar: Fire and Ash” for best theatrical scene or sequence, highlighting the film’s third-act fire tornado battle.

Episodic winners included “Andor” Season 2 for best live-action episode and “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man” for best animated episode.

“Severance” earned best audio – episodic, while “Stranger Things” Season 5 and “F1” won awards for best use of high dynamic range in episodic and feature formats, respectively.

Technology and industry awards went to Google, AMD, DisneyResearch|Studios, Flawless, 6P Colour, and CoreWeave for innovations supporting production and storytelling.

VUE received the Governor’s Award for Cinema Excellence for its next-generation EPIC cinemas.

Distinguished individual honours included Ethan Hawke, who received the 2026 Distinguished Artist Award, Jon M. Chu, awarded the inaugural Judy Garland Legacy Award, and Joseph Kosinski and Jerry Bruckheimer, who earned the Harold Lloyd Award.
