The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly advocated for Bangladesh during key talks with an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation in Lahore, sources said on Monday.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi held six-hour negotiations with the ICC delegation at Lahore’ws Gaddafi Stadium. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief also attended the meeting.

The talks were held against the backdrop of Pakistan’s refusal to play India in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

During the meeting, Pakistan demanded that Bangladesh receive its full share of World Cup revenues, that India honour its scheduled September tour of Bangladesh, and that the country be considered for hosting future major ICC events.

According to the sources, the PCB made it clear that it was not seeking any personal concessions but could not remain silent over what it viewed as injustice toward Bangladesh.

The board urged the ICC to ensure all decisions are transparent, impartial, and in line with the spirit of the game.

Pakistan also stressed that India should follow the traditions of the “gentlemen’s game,” promoting mutual respect and fair play.

The sources said the ICC delegation reassured Pakistan that no board member would face exclusion from the World Cup, as had happened with Bangladesh, and that cricket decisions would not be influenced by political considerations.

Earlier, Indian media reported that Pakistan had tabled three major conditions to the ICC regarding its reconsideration of the boycott decision.

These include proper funding for Bangladesh cricket to strengthen infrastructure and player preparation, payment of participation fees for the T20 World Cup, even if excluded, and granting Bangladesh hosting rights for future ICC tournaments.
