Team will respect govt decision on India match: Salman Agha
2 min readPakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has said that the team will respect the government’s decision regarding its match against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup and will act in accordance with whatever decision is taken.
Speaking at a press conference in Colombo, Salman Agha said this would be his first World Cup as captain and that he was highly excited about the challenge.
He expressed confidence that under his leadership, the team would perform strongly and deliver better results than in previous outings.
He said Pakistan had been playing good cricket since the Asia Cup and was currently focused on preparations for the upcoming match against the Netherlands.
The captain also expressed regret over Bangladesh’s absence from the World Cup, noting that there are no weak teams at a tournament of this level.
Salman Ali Agha described Sri Lanka as his “second home,” adding that playing cricket in the country has always been a pleasant experience for him.
He stressed that the team would not dwell on matters beyond its control and would instead concentrate fully on playing good cricket throughout the tournament.
“The India game is not in our control. It was the government’s decision, and if we have to play them in the semi-final or the final, we will go back to them and act on their advice,” Agha told reporters.
Pakistan open their tournament against the Netherlands at Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Saturday.
They play the United States on February 10, then potentially have an eight-day break — the India game was scheduled for February 15 — until they take on Namibia on February 18.
