Govt announces public holiday on Feb 5 for Kashmir Solidarity Day
1 min readThe federal government has declared a public holiday across Pakistan on February 5, 2026, to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day.
According to official sources, a notification has been issued confirming that February 5 will be observed as a nationwide public holiday in connection with Kashmir Day.
The holiday sequence will effectively begin a day earlier in Sindh.
The Sindh government has already announced a holiday for all educational institutions on February 4 on account of Shab-e-Barat.
The School Education Department Sindh said the closure will be observed on Shaban 15, 1447 AH, corresponding to February 4, 2026. The notification for this holiday was issued on January 30.
In Punjab, the provincial government has announced holidays on February 6 and 7 in connection with Basant celebrations.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in a post on social media platform X on Sunday that the province would enjoy a long weekend starting with Kashmir Day on February 5.
She added that February 6 would be observed as a Basant holiday, followed by the regular weekend on February 7 (Saturday) and February 8 (Sunday).
The announcements collectively create an extended break in several parts of the country during the first week of February.
