Apple has unveiled a new generation of AirTag, improving tracking accuracy, range, and features for frequent travellers and Apple Watch users.

The upgraded AirTag features Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, also used in the iPhone 17 series and Apple Watch Ultra 3, enabling Precision Finding from up to 1.5 times farther than before.

The enhanced UWB and a new Bluetooth chip allow users to locate items over longer distances and play sounds from farther away.

Apple has redesigned the AirTag’s internal speaker, making it 50% louder with a new chime that is easier to hear and recognise.

This helps users locate items hidden in bags, under blankets, or in other rooms.

For the first time, Precision Finding is available directly on Apple Watch Series 9, Series Ultra 2, and later models, allowing users to find AirTags from their wrist without using an iPhone.

This feature requires watchOS 26.2.1 or later and provides haptic, visual, and audio guidance.

Apple is also expanding the Share Item Location feature, which lets users securely share the location of lost AirTag-equipped items, such as delayed luggage, with trusted third parties.

Currently, 36 airlines support the feature, with 15 more expected to join. Shared location links remain private, secure, and expire automatically.

The new AirTag is available to order through apple.com, the Apple Store app, and Apple Authorised Resellers in the UAE. In-store availability at Apple Stores begins later this week.

Pricing remains the same: Dh129 for a single AirTag and Dh439 for a four-pack, with free personalised engraving offered when ordered online.
