Polio campaign kicks off in Punjab from February 2
1 min readA province-wide polio eradication campaign will begin in Punjab on February 2, running seven days in Lahore and four days in other districts.
More than 200,000 workers will participate in the campaign to vaccinate over 17.8 million children.
The campaign aims to reach every child, with special focus on high-risk districts and displaced children.
Chief Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication Uzma Kardar said the campaign is a national responsibility, adding that parental trust and the media’s support are key to its success.
Polio Eradication Programme head Adeel Tasawur highlighted that Pakistan is in the final phase of polio eradication, noting that five out of six environmental sampling sites in Lahore have turned negative.
Monitoring and data-based micro-planning will ensure no child is missed, while community dialogue and fully prepared frontline workers aim to achieve complete coverage during the campaign.
