At least five people were killed and several others injured in an explosion near a wedding ceremony in Dera Ismail Khan on Friday, officials said.

The blast occurred in the Qureshi Mor area, close to the venue of the wedding, according to police sources.

Initial reports indicate that the casualties include both men and women attending the event.

Local authorities said the incident caused panic among residents and guests, and emergency services were dispatched immediately to assist the injured and secure the site.
