Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has filed her first defamation case against Opposition Leader Mian Qureshi, claiming Rs 8.4 crore in damages.

The case was filed under the Punjab Defamation Act 2024 in the Defamation Tribunal Lahore.

Bukhari said Qureshi made false and derogatory statements against her during a private TV program.

Qureshi had alleged that Bukhari allowed 150 to 200 “paid” individuals into the provincial assembly, which she called baseless and fabricated.

The statements were widely broadcast on TV and social media, reaching millions of viewers.

In her petition, Bukhari submitted video recordings, screen captures, and transcripts as evidence.

She claimed the allegations damaged her reputation, dignity, and credibility, and described them as malicious, vindictive, and irresponsible.

The petition seeks general, exemplary, and special damages and requests that the tribunal order Qureshi to pay the claimed amount along with court costs.

The incident dates back to December 28, 2025.
