Gul Plaza: Fire, fear and forgotten safety

The death toll from the devastating fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza shopping centre climbed to more than 70, as rescue teams continued operations amid fears the damaged building could collapse at any moment. The fire broke out around 10.00 p.m. on 17 Jan on the ground floor of the plaza, located on MA Jinnah Road, and rapidly spread to the third floor.
