Pakistan showcases vast mineral potential at FMF in Riyadh
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik highlighted Pakistan’s rich and diverse mineral resources, positioning the country as a prime destination for global investment.
He spoke at the ministerial panel “Dawn of a Global Cause: The Role of Governments in Driving Mineral Supply” during the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The panel, moderated by CNN Anchor Eleni Giokos, acknowledged Pakistan’s emerging prominence in the global minerals market. Giokos remarked that “the world appears to be knocking at Pakistan’s door” to secure its mineral resources.
On the sidelines of FMF, the minister held a series of high-level bilateral meetings, including with Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al-Saud, Saudi Energy Minister, to explore deeper cooperation across the energy sector. He also met Khalid Al-Falih, Saudi Investment Minister, to discuss boosting investment flows and partnerships in Pakistan’s energy and mineral industries.
Additional meetings included Jassim Alshirawi, Secretary General of the International Energy Forum, Sami Takaluoma, CEO of Metso Corporation, Badr Al-Aiban, Chairman of Delta Oil, and Saad Alkhalb, CEO of Saudi EXIM Bank, where prospects of cooperation were discussed.
During the forum, Ali Pervaiz Malik formally invited global stakeholders to the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum, scheduled for April 2026, emphasising Pakistan as a mineral investment hub.
Pakistan’s presence at FMF was reinforced through the Pakistan Pavilion, “Pakistan – The Mineral Marvel,” and a 90-minute country showcase session that drew a full audience. The minister highlighted Reko Diq as more than a mining project, describing it as a benchmark for the industry.
He announced that this year’s Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum will focus on “Beyond Reko Diq,” reflecting Pakistan’s vision for sustainable growth in the mining sector.
