Three traffic police officers were martyred after unidentified militants opened fire on them in the Sarai Naurang area of Lakki Marwat district.

According to police, the deceased officers include Traffic In-Charge Jalal Khan and Constables Azizullah and Abdullah.

The traffic personnel were on their routine duty on the Bannu-Lakki Road when the assailants, riding motorcycles, suddenly opened fire on them.

The attackers fled after the attack, prompting police to launch a search operation in the area.

Local police and security forces cordoned off the site and began an investigation.

Officials said the attack appeared to have been carried out in a professional manner. Police have sought cooperation from the public to help apprehend the perpetrators quickly.

The bodies of the martyred officers have been transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Sarai Naurang for legal formalities.
