Traffic accidents in Lahore crossed alarming levels during 2025, with more than 87,000 crashes reported across the city, leaving 452 people dead and over 106,000 injured, according to official data.

Motorcyclists emerged as the most vulnerable road users. Figures show that 57,733 motorcycle-related accidents were reported during the year, accounting for the largest share of total crashes in the city.

Underage and inexperienced drivers were also a major factor. At least 4,254 accidents involved underage drivers, officials said.

Among other vehicles, more than 14,000 accidents involved cars, over 7,000 rickshaws, more than 1,600 trucks and over 500 buses.

Speeding remained a leading cause, with 3,919 accidents linked to overspeeding. Careless driving resulted in injuries to 28,898 people during the year.

Overall, more than 106,000 people sustained injuries in traffic accidents.

More than 15,000 pedestrians were hit by vehicles or motorcycles, while over 4,000 people suffered serious head injuries.

In separate incidents linked to one-wheeling, 48 people were injured.

Age-wise data shows young people were the most affected. More than 33,000 people aged between 21 and 30 were injured, while 20,992 victims were in the 11 to 20 age group.

Several major accidents during the year shook the city.

In Shahdara, a speeding vehicle driven by a 14-year-old crushed motorcycle riders, killing one person and injuring two others.

In Baghbanpura, a dumper truck overturned onto a rickshaw, killing five people, including two children.

In Defence, a dumper ran over three motorcyclists, while near MAO College, a loader truck accident claimed the lives of three members of the same family.

Officials warned that the figures were not just statistics but a serious alarm, stressing that without strict enforcement of traffic laws and responsible driving, Lahore’s roads could become even more deadly.
