Maulana Fazlur Rehman awarded honorary doctorate at Governor House Sindh
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was awarded an honorary doctorate by a private university at Governor House Sindh on Monday.
The ceremony was hosted by Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori, who praised the religious community for standing firm on its principles.
Speaking to the media, Governor Tessori said global powers view Pakistan’s religious groups as a symbol of strength.
He also highlighted the presence of India-backed elements in Afghanistan.
Addressing the gathering, Fazlur Rehman criticised the treatment of Afghan refugees in Pakistan, saying decades of hospitality had been wasted.
He also labelled the 2018 and 2024 elections as rigged and called for fresh polls.
On constitutional matters, he urged that the 26th Amendment should not be made controversial.
This event underscores the ongoing political discourse in the country, with JUI-F emphasising electoral transparency and national unity.
