The Gilgit-Baltistan Election Commission Secretariat has formally released the timetable for local body elections, which are scheduled for February 14, 2026, in union councils, district councils, town committees, municipal committees, and municipal corporations.

According to the notification, the election process will begin on December 19, 2025, with public notices issued by returning officers for nomination papers.

Candidates can submit their papers between December 22 and December 26, 2025.

The names of the nominated candidates will be released on December 27, and the examination of documents will take place from December 29 to January 2, 2026.

Appeals against returning officers’ decisions can be filed from January 3 to January 7, with appellate authority decisions announced between January 8 and January 12.

The revised list of candidates will be released on January 13, with the last date to withdraw nominations on January 14.

Election symbols will be allotted on January 15, along with the publication of the final list.

Voting will occur on February 14, 2026, continuously from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
