Regional conference on terrorism threats from Afghan soil to be held in Tehran
A regional conference focusing on terrorism threats emanating from Afghan soil will be held in Tehran on Sunday, bringing together special representatives from Afghanistan’s neighbouring countries.
The meeting will be attended by special envoys and senior officials from Pakistan, Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, according to officials familiar with the arrangements.
Pakistan will be represented by Special Representative for Afghanistan Mohammad Sadiq, Obaidur Rehman Nizamani and Mudassir Tipu.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will address the conference, which aims to assess regional security challenges linked to Afghanistan and explore coordinated responses among neighbouring states.
Officials said the discussions will focus on emerging threats, cross-border security concerns and the need for closer regional cooperation to counter terrorism and instability.
